Clarence G was a hip-hop/electro project and the debut of the late, great James Marcel Stinson (1969-2002). One of the greatest and most prolific producers to come out of the Detroit electronic music scene, he recorded under a variety of guises such as Lab Rat XL, The Other People Place, Shifted Phases, Transilusion, Abstract Thought, Elecktroids, L.A.M. and most famously, as Drexiya with Gerald Donald.
The alias, “Clarence G” is a reference to author “Clarence G. Hamilton” who wrote books regarding music theory and music history. “Cause I Said It Right” is one of the only 2 rap tracks he ever recorded, both off his debut release, “Hyperspace Sound Lab”. Even though Stinson later expressed his dissatisfaction with this EP (stating that he did not want it re-released ever), it has become one of the rarest and most coveted Detroit Techno records.
Both rap tracks, “Cause I Said It Right” and “Clarence G’s Club” can both be found on the Safety Copy bootlegs (already starting to go for $$$ themselves). As for original copies, good luck!

this record would be so much more interesting if it were really any good. instead, its like the weakest of drexciya tracks with bad rapping over it. i guess its cool in concept, but to pay $$$ for it is insanity.

I’ll admit, by far not the best Drexiya track. But, when I first came across this, I thought it would be interesting to other Drexiya fans to hear him rapping and in a different context. Paying that much $$$ for ANY record is insane.

I think it sounds great! I suppose even the “weakest” Drexciya tracks will still sound better than most other music ever.
